About the College of Sciences

The Ray P. Authement College of Sciences is dedicated to the advancement of scientific knowledge through research and the extension of the scientific heritage through teaching. The College offers 8 B.S. degrees, 5 M.S. degrees, and 4 Ph.D. degrees. There has been rapid growth in the student body recently with 1624 undergraduate students and 303 graduate students presently enrolled.

The College is organized into departments by discipline. The departments are Biology (housed in Billeaud Hall and Wharton Hall), Center for Advanced Computer Studies and Computer Science (both housed in Oliver Hall), Chemistry (Montgomery Hall), Geology (Madison Hall), Health Information Management (Wharton Hall), Institute of Cognitive Science (Rougeou Hall), Mathematics (Maxim Doucet Hall and Foster Hall), Physics (Broussard Hall) and Renewable Resources (Hamilton Hall). The Department of Military Science (Brooks Street Annex II) also reports to the College.
